two thousand and eleven

looking back at my '10 blog post, my resolutions involved:
1. knitting 2. being connected with people 3. learning/reading/evolving 4. writing letters to politicians

well. thanks to a crash course from caylie over the holidays i can say that i know how to knit. finally! i haven't made anything yet, but it's only a matter of time.

being "connected" is still a struggle. i quit facebook and i think that was a good decision but i have to compensate somehow. my situation has changed though; living in this community i would have to go out of my way to be isolated. i'm definitely learning about people and relationships. either way, i want to write more letters and emails. and maybe more phone calls.

always with the learning and reading and getting better, of course. perpetual resolution.

writing letters to politicians. frankly, i never did this and i am not interested in this anymore.

SO, new new new resolutions.

i want to evolve my own practice of physical and mental discipline and get a solid routine of stretching. (i'm skirting the word yoga because caylie hates it. although i'm sure she just hates the lululemon overly righteous carrying around a cup of starbucks in your ugg boots and talking about yoga all the time thing. which i also do hate but i'm just talking about intentional stretching.)

i'd like to become less of a culinary spazz. not hoping to be a chef, just able to cook up something to eat without crying. i don't know why i find cooking for a few people to be so stressful, but at this point it's too much to endure.

two thousand and ten

heyyylo,
i'm feeling pretty fine right now with some extra time, so i thought i'd drop into the blog zone ya'll.

had some pretty good holidays. paul came with me to vermilion with me for 5 days and hung out with my parents, grandparents, and caylie. nice to be back though with books to read and hammocks to lay in. i'm reading a ton of books right now, all of them are really good. i have going:
The End of Money & the Future of Civilization by Thomas Greco
The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Change your brain by Tim Leary
No Gods No Masters: An Anthology of Anarchism by Daniel Guerin

new years eve, resolutions blah blah. apparently i didn't put any down in the blog last new year, which is disappointing. i'd like to look back and see what my priorities were.

anyway, here are my 2010 resolutions:

1. be more connected with people. my friends who i suck at keeping in touch with. new friends who i will never meet if i keep this shit up. my family even. ways i will do this: more hanging out, letter writing, getting more out of time spent, being a better listener, cultivating hobbies, creating circles of people. ways i will probably not do this: facebooking, phone talking, making plans in advance.

2. learn to knit. for fuckin' realz.

3. keep learning, reading, and getting smarter. improve on communicating ideas. open mindedness and peace. get better with bikes.

4. write more letters to politicians.

don't! don't drink poison!

i never officially posted them, and resolutions are predictable, but i did make a few resolvations for oh eight - here's how they have been going so far:

1. pack a lunch for work every day possible
- this week i brought a lunch EVERY day! memorable meal items have included a tofurkey hot dog, a rice/tomato soup combo, and a buttload of salad.

2.....actually... i think the lunch thing was it.

i guess i also want to craft more & spend less time on facebook. um... and quit smoking?...and live every day like its my last?... and dance like no one is watching?

in other news, my plant is dying.
before & after:

please say a prayer.
